My Truck

                                                       My Truck when we started
My Truck when we got done

When I was 16 I wanted a truck to drive.  But not just any truck, I wanted a old Chevy truck.  Now I know for a girl that's not what you would expect, but I'm a little bit of a tom boy.  So we went to junk yards trying to find a old Chevy.  It took us a while to find what I had wanted.  But I did find what I wanted a 1954 Chevy pickup.  Now to restore it.  I had wanted to restore My Truck with my Dad so that we could be build a closer relationship.

After we got My Truck all tore apart that was as far as we got.  I started hearing his famous excuse "When do I have the time".  I got so tired of hearing that excuse growing up & still to this day when he use's that excuse.  So I asked my Grandpa if he would help me restore My Truck.  A few years before I got My Truck he had restored a 1952 Chevy truck.  My Grandpa is a very handy man & can do just about anything he puts his mind to.

So Grandpa said yep we can do that, you just have to bring it to my place.  So I got Dad to load the pieces to My Truck up & take it across the holler to Grandpa's so we could work on it after school.  Now I'm not like most people, I wanted to pay for my truck & all that went into repairing it.  So I was spending the money that I had saved up from years of picking up walnuts, mowing yards & cleaning house's.  I guess I'm kinda like Grandpa, I can do just about anything I set my mind to.

So every night after school I would go to my Grandpa's house & work on My Truck with him teaching me how.  I mean I didn't know the first thing about how to restore a truck.  But I was willing to learn.  One of my uncle's had a sand blaster, so I asked if I could borrow it.  So I got the sand blaster & suited  up, I had a cousin that had used it & he said I would want to get completely covered up.  He said he dug sand out of his ears for like a month after using the thing.  So I wore my coverall’s & a coat on top of the cause it was winter time when I was doing the sand blasting.  I felt like a Eskimo/stay puff marshmallow man.  But I got all the paint off My Truck so we could putty the dents & start putting it back together.

We got My Truck put back together, got it painted on the day of my senior prom.  I was able to drive My Truck to school the last week of my senior year.  Grandpa & I built a great relationship that we still have to this day.  Plus I got my Awesome truck out of the deal. hehheheee

  1. Very nice truck! I think it is awesome that you put all the work and money to do so, yourself. With help from your grandpa but you still did it. You knew what you wanted and went after it with nothing stopping you! You can do anything you set your mind to and you are proving it!
